Just a bit more than two weeks into 2012 and I have the first new bloom of the year! It’s a pretty little Phal that I bought at Trader Joe’s, probably about a year ago.

This is one of the orchids that I’ve been experimenting on with Keiki Grow Paste. I’ve already separated a baby orchid from this plant and potted it on its own…and the baby is also in spike! Can’t wait to see the blooms on that little one. But for now, I will enjoy the blooms that are opening up on this pretty white and peachy-pink Phal.

Love to hear of your success with mother and baby both producing spikes. That is a healthy orchid from TJ’s,
Hello, not sure if im commenting in the right spot this is all new to me. I recently became the proud owner of an orchid, ive always wanted one and got one for mothers day. I know nothing about orchids and i really dont want to kill this one. I noticed something at the bottom thats coming out i was checking on your site about roots and spikes and the one on mine doesnt look like any of them, I was wondering if theres anyway to upload a photo for you to see and maybe get your advise on what it might be. Thanks in advanced you have a great site here and i def book marked it for future references 🙂
Hi Krystle, feel free to email me a photo at brooklynorchids [at] gmail [dot] com. I’ll take a look and see if I can tell what’s going on!
