I know it’s been a very long time since I last posted here. Might as well begin all of my blog posts that way. 😛 I tend to post on Instagram more often because it’s quick and easy. Anyway, five of my orchids have begun to spike, and I wanted to share photos of them!
My birthday was last month, and my husband surprised me with a gift card for Orchids by Hausermann! I’ve ordered orchids from them in the past, but it’s been many years since I’ve done so. Now that we have the greenhouse, it’s a good time to try some new orchids!
I actually ordered NINE new orchids in all…here are some of them:
Finally…my NOID Phal keikiis in full bloom! This beautiful baby has five blooms, one of which has turned its back in a Blair Witch sort of way—probably because I moved the orchid while the buds were still developing. It’s ok, though, the plant is still gorgeous!
It’s been a long time since I wrote a post here. To be honest, I’ve been focusing more on my personal blog and my Instagramaccounts. But I wanted to write a little update on a couple of my orchids and give a general update on my life.
First of all, I have one orchid in spike! Just one probably doesn’t sound that exciting, but most of my orchids haven’t bloomed in years. So I am psyched!
Well, as per usual it’s been a very long time since my last post! I was waiting to do an update on my full water culture experiment but not a whole lot was happening so I kept waiting…and waiting. Even though I don’t have anything mind-blowing to share, I finally decided to write a post to show the orchids’ progress since I started the experiment in mid-May.
Wow, it has been WAY too long since I last posted here. I started my own personal blog a little while back, and I got all excited about that. I think I had burned myself out on writing about orchids after doing quite a bit of freelance writing about them, and I’ve needed some time to reclaim that energy. I don’t think I’m totally there yet, but I do have a couple very cool things to share with you (one of which I’ll save for a separate post).
This morning, my husband and I went to Whole Foods to pick up some stuff for a picnic in the park today (yay!). When we entered there was a big display of Phalaenopsis orchids for $12.99 (they usually sell them for about $19.99) and they had several peloric orchids. I’ve talked about peloric orchids a bit before, and I have a gorgeous semi-peloric Phal that’s currently in bloom:
