Top 5 Posts of 2019 + A New Bloom!

Yet Another Top Post Countdown

It just occurred to me that 2019 marked my 10th year of orchid growing! This means that I’ve officially been into the hobby for a quarter of my life. That’s kind of mind blowing!

Okay, so every website on the planet is doing these “top X of the year” posts…I did it on my personal blog so I’m doing it here too.  🙂 But first, I wanna share a couple pics of my red NOID Phal keiki that started blooming yesterday! This one snuck in just before the end of the year:

Take a closer look at this beautiful bloom:

LOVE!! This orchid’s spike had started developing a second bud, but it blasted and fell off. I’m still happy with just one bloom, though.

Okay! So let’s do a quick countdown of my five most viewed posts in 2019. These aren’t necessarily posts that I published this year…they’re just the posts that people read the most.

5. How to Identify a New Orchid Root vs. Flower Spike

4. Keikis: What They Are and What to Do with Them

3. How to Cut a Phalaenopsis Orchid Spike

2. How to Recognize Orchid Roots and Orchid Spikes, Part Deux: Photos!

And the most viewed post in 2019 was…

1. Tips on Caring for a Sick Orchid

I’m not surprised these are the top posts; they address a lot of the same questions and issues I encountered when I first took up orchid growing as a hobby in 2009. Not that I’ve mastered orchid growing by any means, haha. These top posts and others are all listed on my Orchid Care FAQs page, which is a good resource for orchid beginners.

In case you still need a 2020 calendar, my orchid calendar is available in my Zazzle store for 20% off through 11:59pm PST when you use code YEAREND40OFF. (I know, it’s confusing; some items are 40% off and others are 20% off.)

Thank you all so much for reading and for your support! Happy New Year!
